How to get to Albufeira
Albufeira, like the rest of the Algarve, has good internal connections with other Portuguese cities and other countries around the world. As for air transport, Albufeira is located at around 32 km from Faro International Airport with operations of various airline companies, which makes the region a privileged stopover of arrivals and departures. The Algarve also has a good road network with motorways (AE), main itineraries (IP), complementary itineraries (IC), or national (EN) and municipal motorways, useful to travel with the bus or with rented vehicles. To reach Albufeira from the Algarve motorway (A2), exit the last stretch of tolls – Paderne, to the A22 (Via do Infante) and continue in the direction of Albufeira – Portimão. To get to Albufeira or to any place in Algarve, from Andaluzia, you should take the highway A-49 from Spain/Seville. This highway is the motorway that connects Seville to Huelva to the border of Portugal. From here, take the A-22 that will take you to Albufeira or the EN125. Please pay attention that the A22 is not free. If you want to drive from Albufeira along the Algarve, there is the motorway (A22) going from the Spanish border all the way to Lagos in the west. Albufeira is in the middle of the motorway. If you want to avoid the A22 toll, take the EN 125. Train transport is another alternative for visitors, provided by CP – Comboios de Portugal, a vast network of trains that covers the entire continent. The nearest station to Albufeira is Ferreiras train station, which is around 7 km from the city center.
