Where to Shop
Whether you're looking for an original and typical piece of handicraft or a really sophisticated boutique, Albufeira has a bit of everything to offer, with modern and well equipped shops as well as typical street markets and free trade fairs.
The downtown area is dominated by the modern Largo Engº Duarte Pacheco, which challenges the buildings from the beginning of the last century with their simple-lined architecture overlooked to the West by the Mother Church, with its Neo-classical architectural style.
Don't miss this square, with its ongoing entertainment. This is mostly due to the various street terraces and cultural events organized by the municipality. This is also where the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery where you can enjoy various art exhibitions.
There are several roads leading off from this square, which are a daily frenzy of residents and visitors looking for good food, leisure, souvenirs and all the fun of the numerous bars to be found there.
Both in the Largo Engº Duarte Pacheco and in the adjacent streets - Rua Cândido dos Reis, Rua São Gonçalo de Lagos and Av. 25 de Abril - as well as in Cais Herculano and the Praça dos Pescadores, you will find a variety of places to do your shopping. The best idea is to combine business with pleasure and stop at one of the large, sunny street terraces there, for a drink, lunch or dinner.
In Downtown Albufeira, Rua 5 de Outubro and Av. da Liberdade are also worth highlighting, as they are known for their sophisticated shops, jewellers and watchmakers.
Av. Sá Carneiro, in the Montechoro area of Areias de São João, is also a special place to go shopping. You can find anything there from a shop with regional products to boutiques and shoe shops.
Apart from the above-mentioned areas, all over the council you'll find various shops and shopping centres where you can spend a nice time and find all the main brands.
